Charisse Robinson-It all began with my aunt (Cynthia Joy Housley) when she lost her battle with uterine cancer in May of 2011. She lived a productive, healthy, Christian life. Her positive attitude towards fighting her cancer was unbelievable. Many of her family and friends never knew she was fighting for her life until she was admitted, and it was truly a life-changing experience for me to witness her struggle to stay alive. It was heart-breaking to know that she was no longer able to care for herself or her family (husband of 25 years; Michael Housley). Several months after her death, I was called to begin an organization that focuses on providing assistance for women undergoing treatment for any type of gynecological cancer. The Joy Project was later formed in December of 2011.
